Gynecomastia Surgery
It is the growth of breast tissue in men, which can be caused by hormonal changes, such as those that occur during adolescence, the use of certain medications, excess weight, or simply without a known cause. It can occur at any age.
Although exercise and diet can help improve the appearance of the chest, gynecomastia will not disappear; the only way to eliminate it is through surgery.
The surgery is performed in two stages: first, liposuction is used to remove excess fat from the chest through a small incision on the lateral side of the chest, and then an incision is made around the areola to remove excess breast tissue. The scars are small and located in discreet areas. The procedure is performed under outpatient general anesthesia, and you can go home the same day. Recovery is very short, typically 3 to 5 days.

How long does the surgery last?
The surgery lasts approximately 1 hour, is performed under general anesthesia, and does not require hospitalization.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery takes between 3 to 5 days. If your job is an office job, it will be easier and quicker to return. However, if your job involves physical exertion or lifting, you may have some limitations for a longer period.
Will I need to wear a compression garment after surgery?
We recommend using a compression garment commonly known as a “costillera.” This helps reduce swelling, limits movement of the operated tissues, and provides greater comfort for patients, allowing the skin to adapt better for optimal results. It should be worn for a minimum of one month.
